Department of Botany

* About Department:

The Botany department started in the year of 2012 with UG. The department is enriched with learning resources such as charts, slides, herbarium which help the students in independent learning. Department of Botany also have Botanical Garden with various medicinal plants. The botanical excursions are organized in view to study of wild plants diversity, forest ecosystem and to inculcate the research approach in the students by visit various gardens nurseries etc. Department having qualified and experienced faculties. Department of Botany has started Short term certificate courses as Mushroom Spawn Production and Biodiversity Management & Conservation. Every year Department organized different activities like webinar, seminar, exhibition of “Wild Vegetables with Recipes” and tree plantation drives etc. The department has departmental library facility for students to locate their reference materials.

• To develop the ability for acquired knowledge in the fields of Botany so as to make entrepreneurs.

* Objectives of the Department:

• The Department aims to provide a broad multidisciplinary course in Botany.
• To train students in a wide range of science-based skills that provide the learning base for future careers in disciplines such as health sciences, agriculture, environmental management, the emerging biotechnologies, publishing, teaching, research and management.
• To achieve excellence in teaching, research and extension education in the field of Botany
• To offer a modular course of lectures and associated seminars, research projects and practical classes, supported by supervisions where appropriate.
• To promote training in practical and conceptual skills in sub-disciplines ranging from molecular cell biology, through physiology and Endocrinology, to the study of populations in both an ecological and evolutionary framework.
• To provide constructive feedback on their progress, individual students will be assessed throughout the year in their project work, participation in seminars and written work for supervisions.
