About National Service Scheme

National Service Scheme unit of Amdar Shashikant Shinde Mahavidyalaya, Medha established in 2002 is approved by Shivaji University, Kolhapur with the enrolment of 100 students. And NSS second unit sanctioned by Shivaji University, Kolhapur In the year 2020-2021 with the enrolment of 100 volunteers. This unit’s has been working for the causes of
community and rendering its services toward the social issues as envisaged in the objectives of the National Service Scheme. Every volunteer enrolled under NSS is expected to devote 120 hours annually for at least 2 years towards community service. The regular activities include beautification of campuses, awareness campaign, gap filling plantation, health, environment,
save water campaign, save energy disaster, management, rural development, blood donation, awareness about social evils and other socially beneficial issues. Special Camps are organized in adopted villages to undertake community development programme/creation of durable
assets/awareness campaign. Every year 50% of volunteers enrolled in a unit are expected to take part in this campaign.

OBJECTIVES The National Service Scheme (NSS)

NSS unit of this college has set up following objectives in order to increase student participation in the contribution of social and community issues. The objective set by this college, however are inclined with the objective stated by department of Youth and Sports Affairs Ministry Government of India. The National Service Scheme of this college aims at bringing holistic
development of the youth and utilization of youth services to mitigate the social obligation in general.

  1. To work with and for people.
  2. To participate in constructive and creative social work.
  3. To develop knowledge of self and society.
  4. To apply self-knowledge to eliminate social problems and evils.
  5. To achieve the skills to develop democratic leadership.
  6. To acquire the basic required professional skills in order to start self-employment.
  7. To destroy the drift between literate and illiterate.
  8. To enhance the feeling of serving the socially deprived people.
